Their main goal was to succeed in growing strawberry optimizing resources and minimizing ground water contamination.
Optiriego Consulting in association with the company LabFerrer has been involved in this project to provide them with a training service (both in Spain and Norway) in order to use adequately the instruments and reach a useful data interpretation of the moisture probes and Fullstop water front detector.
Growing strawberry in Norway is fairly different from the technics we know in Andalusia: The first year the crop doesn’t produce any fruit. During the winter, it enters in dormancy and survives under a snow coat that covers the land over a few months. The production is harvested during the summer of the second and third years.
