Nowadays, this is the most appropriate technology to measure soil moisture in agriculture. More and more professionals prefer using capacitive probes rather than other technologies such as tensiometers or neutron probes. Datalogging and transmission:
It is a critical point for the user to take advantage of the measures done in the field. We consider that the strength and simplicity is vital for these equipment that will remain several years exposed to the elements and agriculture conditions (pruning, harvesting, etc.). For instance, instead of solar panels we will prefer batteries fed systems. There are nowadays several inexpensive solutions for a remote access to data. Depending on the farm specific conditions, we will prefer GPRS communication using Decagon Devices technology or radio based solution with Agriscope.
It allows you to know the crop theoretical needs using Reference Evapotranspiration. Few years back, weather stations were restrictedly used by public services or agriculture extension services due to its prohibitive cost. Today this price has significantly decreased. A company of a group of producers may have its own station and use local climatic data measured in real field conditions. We offer several design for these stations that allow automatic calculation of Reference Evapotranspiration or alarm setting based on key factors (such as frost alert for instance)..
